The cost of reaching 1,000 people with an advertisement, where advertisers pay for impressions regardless of engagement. It's essentially paying people to see your ad and then ignore it.

Example Usage

We're running a CPM campaign at $8 per thousand impressions, hoping someone among the masses will eventually care.

Origin

From Latin 'mille' (thousand) and traditional media buying in print and broadcast
