Definition
A mathematical optimization algorithm used in programmatic advertising to automatically improve ad targeting and bidding strategies, or as we call it: 'the algorithm adjusting itself.'
Example Usage
Our AI is using gradient descent to optimize bids in real-time, which either means we're at the forefront of advertising tech or about to lose $50K.
Origin
Machine learning term; originally from calculus and computer science, now applied to ad tech.
Fun Fact
Gradient descent is the same algorithm your AI model used to learn; it's just now being used to learn which ads work best.
