Wireframing

Beginner 🚀 Startup / VC

Definition

Low-fidelity sketches of how a user interface will work, before high-fidelity design. It's the cheapest way to validate UX before wasting designer time.

Example Usage

We wireframed the new dashboard in Figma and got user feedback before the design team spent 3 weeks polishing something we'd delete anyway.

Origin

Web design practice that became standard in the 2000s.

Fun Fact

Some of the best products start with terrible wireframes because it forces conversation about functionality instead of pixels.
