Definition
The most stripped-down version of your product that customers will actually use without demanding a refund—or at least that's the theory. In practice, it's whatever you can ship before running out of money.

Our MVP is basically three buttons and a prayer, but the landing page has a gradient, so investors think we're technical.

Popularized by Eric Ries in 'The Lean Startup' (2011), based on earlier concepts from agile development
Fun Fact
Dropbox's MVP was literally just a video of the product working, before they'd built the actual syncing technology.
