Definition
The interconnected system of body segments and joints that work together to produce movement. The reason your knee pain might actually be a hip problem, and why bodies are annoyingly complicated.
Example Usage
My physical therapist explained that my shoulder issue is actually a kinetic chain problem starting at my feet, which is just rude.
Origin
Borrowed from engineering; applied to human movement by Arthur Steindler in 1955
Fun Fact
Problems in the kinetic chain often manifest far from their source—weak glutes can cause knee pain, and poor ankle mobility can affect your squat form.
