Definition
An affinity group for employees sharing demographics or interests, which provides community while corporations get free diversity initiatives without actually changing anything.
Example Usage
The women's ERG has 200 members and runs great events, but leadership is still 85% male.
Origin
Emerged in the 1960s from civil rights movements, formalized by corporations in the 1990s
Fun Fact
ERGs are great for community but rarely have budgets larger than a bad salad lunch
