Definition
A training session combining two disciplines back-to-back, typically cycling followed by running, to simulate race conditions. Named for how your legs feel when you dismount the bike.
Example Usage
My Sunday brick workout consisted of a 30-mile ride followed by a 6-mile run, during which my legs moved like they were made of actual bricks.
Origin
Triathlon training terminology from the 1980s; disputed whether it references leg sensation or the building of multi-sport fitness.
Fun Fact
The bike-to-run transition is so jarring that triathletes have nicknamed it 'jelly legs' or 'running on stumps.'
