Definition
A ratio of weight to height that health professionals use to categorize populations while admitting it's not great for individuals (looking at you, muscular athletes).
Example Usage
Her BMI is 23, which falls in the 'normal' range despite her athletic build.
Origin
Developed by Adolphe Quetelet in 1832, adopted by WHO in 1997
Fun Fact
BMI completely ignores muscle mass, which is why jacked athletes can have 'overweight' BMIs.
