Definition
The intense muscle discomfort during high-rep sets from metabolite accumulation and reduced pH, not actual tissue damage despite feeling like your muscles are melting. No pain, presumably gains.
Example Usage
Those 20-rep squat sets had my quads burning so badly I thought my legs would spontaneously combust before I finished.
Origin
Bodybuilding culture describing metabolic stress sensation during training
Fun Fact
The burn is caused by hydrogen ions and lactate accumulation, which paradoxically may signal hypertrophic stimuli despite the discomfort.
