sociology

Intermediate πŸŽ“ Education / Academia

Definition

The academic discipline that studies why humans do weird things in groups, disguised as serious science with lots of charts and jargon. Sociologists analyze everything from why you act differently at family dinners versus raves, to how society's invisible rules keep us from screaming at strangers (most of the time). It's anthropology's more theoretical cousin, asking big questions about power structures while your relatives ask when you're getting a 'real job.'

Example Usage

Her sociology dissertation examined social media echo chambers, proving with data what everyone already knew from Thanksgiving dinner arguments.
