Definition
The honored academic tradition of anonymously evisceration someone's research while pretending it's constructive feedback. Also called peer review—slightly less pleasant than elective surgery but approximately equivalent in emotional damage.

I spent twelve hours refereeing that paper and used 'fundamentally flawed methodology' no fewer than nine times.
