A group that simulates enemy tactics, techniques, and procedures to test security measures and identify vulnerabilities. Essentially, these are the people paid to think like terrorists and break into your base.
Example Usage
The red cell penetrated three perimeter checkpoints before anyone noticed—our security posture is garbage.
Origin
Emerged from U.S. military war gaming and security testing programs in the 1980s
Fun Fact
Red cell members often get so good at their jobs that they develop a somewhat unsettling ability to explain exactly how they'd attack any facility they visit, making them fun at parties.
