Definition
A competitive wordplay escalation where two or more people trade increasingly terrible puns on the same topic until everyone but the victor mentally surrenders. It's intellectual combat with the lowest possible stakes.
Example Usage
We got into pun-upmanship about pizza and by the fourth round, everyone had walked away from the table.
