Definition

A sticker with a raised, three-dimensional foam or rubber surface that gives it a bumpy, textured feel, typically brightly colored and often scented. Popular with children from the 1980s onward for decorating notebooks, folders, and sticker books.

Example Usage

Kids would collect puffy stickers of dolphins, rainbows, and hearts to decorate their school binders.

Origin

Developed in the 1970s–80s as a variation on flat stickers, manufactured using foam-based adhesive materials.

Fun Fact

Puffy stickers often came scented (cherry, strawberry, etc.) and were marketed heavily to children in the '80s and '90s as collectible items.
