Definition
A political term for a candidate or official who swears they belong to no party, and who is usually asked to prove it on a debate stage. In theory, it means impartial, and in practice it means 'I'd like your vote without giving you a team to pick.'
Example Usage
The city council race is officially nonpartisan, which somehow hasn't stopped every candidate from posting their party's logo in the yard signs.
