An Italian chocolate-hazelnut spread that's basically Nutella's sophisticated ancestor, containing about 50% hazelnut and almond paste mixed with chocolate. Originating in Piedmont during a cocoa shortage, it's proof that necessity is the mother of delicious invention. Pronounced "jahn-DOO-yah," it's what chocolatiers use when they want to sound fancy and charge more.
