Origin

Named after George Ferris, the engineer who designed and built the first Ferris wheel for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago.

Fun Fact

The London Eye, completed in 2000, held the record as the world's tallest Ferris wheel at 135 meters until 2008.
