Half-assing a workout or race, going through the motions without genuine effort. The physical equivalent of quiet quitting, visible to everyone but the person doing it.
Example Usage
Coach called me out for dogging it during intervals—apparently my 'hard' effort looked suspiciously comfortable.
Origin
General sports slang from American team sports culture
Fun Fact
The opposite of 'leaving it all out there,' dogging it is often unconscious when athletes are overtrained or mentally checked out.
