Definition

A deductive mystery board game where players move around a mansion collecting clues to solve whodunit—determining which suspect committed the murder, with which weapon, and in which room. Players eliminate possibilities by showing cards to each other and narrow down the solution through logical deduction.

Example Usage

In our game of Clue, I figured out that Colonel Mustard committed the crime in the library with the wrench before anyone else.

Origin

Invented by Anthony E. Pratt and published by Parker Brothers (now Hasbro) in 1949 under the name 'Cluedo' in the UK and 'Clue' in North America.

Fun Fact

The original game had nine suspects; the character Dr. Orchid replaced Dr. Jedediah Orchard as of 2016, making it the first major character change in the game's 67-year history.
