Definition
A movement technique where one element advances while another provides cover, then the roles switch—essentially tactical leapfrogging with more firepower. The buddy system for people expecting to be shot at.
Example Usage
First team will bound forward 100 meters while second team maintains overwatch from this position, then we'll switch.
Origin
Modern infantry tactics developed from WWII combat experience
Fun Fact
This technique is exhausting—the overwatching team has to sprint with full gear to get ahead of the element they just covered, explaining why infantry are in excellent shape or extremely motivated.
