Definition
The mental and physical energy required to start a workout. In fitness, it's often higher than the actual training energy required.
Example Usage
The activation energy to get to the gym is brutal some days, but once I'm there, the workout flows.
Origin
Borrowed from chemistry terminology; applied metaphorically in fitness psychology.
Fun Fact
Reducing activation energy (having workout clothes ready, consistent schedule) is often more important for adherence than willpower.
