Definition
An expression used to break an awkward silence or acknowledge the discomfort of a conversation that's gone sideways. It's the verbal equivalent of the sound of crickets chirping in the void.
Example Usage
After he made that offensive joke, everyone stared at him in silence. Finally someone muttered, 'um...cricket?'
