Definition

A popular two-pocket folder with a Velcro closure, manufactured by Mead, that was ubiquitous in schools from the 1970s through 1990s; often came in neon colors and featured artistic designs on the cover.

Origin

Introduced by the Mead Corporation in 1978; the name comes from the dual closure mechanism that 'trapped' papers inside.
