Capable of viewing things far away as if they were right in front of you, either through actual glass lenses or figurative expansion/contraction. Often used to describe surgical instruments that pretend to be magic sticks and vision that apparently works like a space telescope.

The surgeon used a telescopic lens to examine the distant tissue without turning this into a full-scale archaeological expedition.
