Scientific Violence

Advanced 🎓 Education / Academia

Definition

The weaponization of scientific authority and methodology to justify harm, oppression, or marginalization—think eugenics, race-based pseudoscience, or non-consensual medical experimentation. It's the dark side of institutional power: when the lab coat becomes a tool of control rather than discovery.

Example Usage

The Tuskegee syphilis study is a textbook example of scientific violence, where researchers deliberately withheld treatment from Black men under the guise of medical observation.
