Definition

A subjective scale (usually 1-10) measuring how hard you think you're working, because sometimes your feelings matter more than your smartwatch.

Example Usage

I hit an RPE of 8 on that final set—I could've done 2 more reps.

Origin

Developed by Gunnar Borg in 1962 as the Borg Scale

Fun Fact

RPE is more reliable than heart rate monitors in certain conditions because your perception of effort is surprisingly accurate.
