Definition
A situation in which a mobile phone has completely run out of battery and cannot be powered on or used. Can refer to either genuinely dead battery or, colloquially, when someone hasn't charged their phone in a while.
Example Usage
Sorry I didn't reply to your messages earlier—my phone was dead and I didn't realize it.
Origin
Straightforward combination of 'phone' and 'dead,' in common use since mobile phones became ubiquitous.
