A defensive or humorous deflection used when someone has just admitted to or been called out for being very interested in something, usually to playfully deny or downplay the intensity of their interest. Often ironic.

A Gen-Z rhetorical device that emerged as a response to increased self-awareness around parasocial relationships and fandom culture.
