My Dad is Dead

Beginner 📱 Gen-Z / Internet Slang

Definition

A deliberately absurd 'fact' dropped into an awkward silence, where the speaker is either joking or just wired on too much caffeine. It works because nobody knows whether to offer condolences or check the speaker's pulse. The reveal is always a cheerful 'Haha, I'm lying, you're an idiot.'

Example Usage

Me: 'So, how was your weekend?' Friend: 'My dad is dead.' Me: 'Oh no.' Friend: 'Haha, kidding. Got any coffee?'
