Definition
When you develop unrequited romantic feelings for someone who only sees you as a friend, trapping you in the friendzone with two possible exits: either you move on and maintain the friendship, or you become so hung up that the relationship implodes. It's basically the emotional equivalent of being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Example Usage
I'm totally experiencing the McIntyre Effect with my coworker—they're amazing but only wants to grab coffee as friends.
