layer

Intermediate 💻 Tech / IT

Definition

A thin horizontal slice of something stacked upon others—nature's way of showing that even mountains and cakes follow the 'one more thing' principle. In tech and data, it's a conceptual level in a hierarchy where different stuff lives. Each layer is basically its own universe until you zoom out and realize it's just another sandwich.

Example Usage

The OSI model has seven layers, each handling different aspects of network communication.
