Definition
An archaic volunteer-run network of over 10,000 bulletin board nodes from the 1980s-90s that allowed hobbyists to exchange emails before the internet went mainstream. Basically the original decentralized social network.
Example Usage
Back in the day, I spent hours configuring Binkley to manage my Fidonet connections just to trade messages with other retro computing nerds.
