Definition

A person qualified by knowledge, skill, experience, or training to testify about specialized matters beyond common knowledge—basically, someone the court lets talk about stuff normal people aren't allowed to have opinions on.

The plaintiff hired a medical expert witness to testify that the defendant's negligence caused her injuries.
