control

Intermediate 💻 Tech / IT

Definition

The apparatus, lever, or button that makes things do what you want them to do—or in a lab setting, the boring group you ignore because they have no experimental variables (the buzzkill of science). It's either what you manipulate or what you compare against, depending on your mood.

Example Usage

The control group received a placebo while the test group received the experimental drug.
