Definition

A hugely popular home computer released by Commodore in 1982, featuring 64 KB of RAM and known for its distinctive beige case and superior graphics and sound capabilities compared to competitors. It became one of the best-selling computers of all time and defined a generation of gaming and programming.

My first video game was Space Invaders on my uncle's Commodore 64.

Origin

Named for the 64 kilobytes of RAM, which was considered substantial for the era.

Fun Fact

The Commodore 64's SID chip, responsible for its legendary sound quality, was so advanced that it's still sampled and emulated by modern musicians.
