Definition
Having a disease or condition without showing any symptoms. The medical equivalent of finding out your house is on fire after the fact.
Example Usage
The patient's asymptomatic bacteriuria didn't require treatment since no UTI symptoms were present.
Origin
From Greek 'a' (without) and 'symptoma' (sign/symptom)
Fun Fact
Many serious conditions (hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes) are asymptomatic until they cause major damage. Sneaky and dangerous.
